May 24 - 27 Enigma 3 - day Self - awareness Retreat with Dr Graham Mead
Experience intimate time with yourself in a dynamic, safe, nurturing environment and explore the intricacies and simplicity of healing through feeling and moving without the restrictions of attachment and addiction to thought.
Discover the value of sustained, focussed attention in opening up the deep, inner dimensions of the body's physiology and psychology as a gateway to a richer connection with life. Experience real stillness. Learn to feel. Learn to breathe.
Feel the joy of being in your body with all the dimensions of inner movement that can be accessed through a deep sense of the fluid nature of its structure and expression. The depth of access to the body's internal movement capacity is governed solely by the degree of feeling-awareness we can develop and the discovery of this is both a challenge and a real joy. The movements centre around Tai Chi exercises taught as a basis for the art.
Explore a practical pathway toward intimate relationship without compromise or manipulation, through which you can move toward an increasingly authentic way of being in the world.
Enigma is a practical approach to self-awareness and overall well-being and this retreat is open to anyone.

June 15 - 17 EMDR Trauma treatment
What is EMDR?The mind can often heal itself naturally, in the same way as the body does. Much of this natural coping mechanism occurs during sleep, particularly during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Francine Shapiro developed Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in 1987, utilising this natural process in order to successfully treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Since then, EMDR has been used to effectively treat a wide range of mental health problems.
How EMDR worksThe brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.
EMDR clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes. Unlike talk therapy, the insights clients gain in EMDR therapy result not so much from clinician interpretation, but from the client’s own accelerated intellectual and emotional processes. The net effect is that clients conclude EMDR therapy feeling empowered by the very experiences that once debased them. Their wounds have not just closed, they have transformed.
Goals of EMDR
- Releasing you from dysfunctional ties to the past, so that adaptive responses are possible in the present
- Reprocessing disturbing memories using eye movements to achieve a more adaptive and functional resolution
- Simultaneous desensitisation and cognitive restructuring of memories
- Elicitation of spontaneous insights
- Increase in self-efficacy
Symptoms that are often significantly relieved include flashbacks, nightmares, somatic arousal, distress and anxiety associated with traumatic memories, sleep disturbance. Resolution of trauma can improve self-esteem, mood, and levels of trust in others.

July 31 - August 5 Awakening the Heart
A week- long Jewish Retreat with Rabbi Jeff Roth and Rabbi JoEllen Duckor
Join us for a six-night Jewish mindfulness/heartfulness meditation retreat.
Rabbi Jeff Roth will offer the opportunity to experience practices which thousands of people have found transformative and life enhancing.
Participants will enhance their skills in a range of meditative techniques. These include concentration techniques, contemplative prayer chants, mindfulness meditation, the path of blessing, yoga, walking and eating meditation and practices that cultivate joy, result in greater clarity and wisdom, and open the heart of compassion.
The retreat builds to a special experience of Shabbat, resting in the spaciousness that the retreat process creates. Shabbat chanting is extended and Torah reading is done in a way that helps integrate the experiences of the week’s practice. Shabbat ends with a move back into hearing each person’s special moments from the week.
Structure of the Retreat
During the Retreat, we observe social silence, refraining from conversation with other participants at all times. There will be group times for questions and answers. In addition, each person will have two individual appointments with Rabbi Roth to discuss the practice. The silence of these retreats allows for a settling of the mind as well as an in-depth look at one's experience of life in each moment.
A regular Jewish meditation practice can help cultivate awareness in all aspects of daily life, bringing each of us to a meeting of the Divine Presence in every moment.
Rabbi Jeff Roth, D.Div. is the founder and Director of The Awakened Heart Project for Contemplative Judaism, and co-leader of the Jewish Mindfulness Teacher Training Program. He has led over 200 meditation retreats. He was the co-founder of Elat Chayyim where he served as Executive Director and Spiritual Director for 13 years. Life and Me, Myself, & God. He lives with his family in the Hudson River Valley of New York.

February 22 - 24 (2019) J. Krishnamurti Retreat - The Turning Point
The programme will focus on Krishnamurti’s theme of “The Turning Point” and will include a mix of videos related to the theme and group dialogues where Krishnamurti’s teachings can be explored in more depth. If the weather permits there will be opportunity for walks as the Centre is located in the beautiful Waitakere Ranges west of Auckland. It is also just 10 minutes’ drive from Te Henga/Bethells Beach.
Krishnamurti was born in India in 1895 and died in the United States in 1986. He spoke throughout his life in many parts of the world to large audiences as well as with numerous individuals, including writers, scientists, philosophers and educators. Describing his teaching he said, "Truth is a pathless land. Man cannot come to it through any organisation, through any creed, through any dogma, priest or ritual, nor through any philosophic knowledge or psychological technique. He has to find it through the mirror of relationship, through the understanding of the contents of his own mind, through observation and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection..."
Krishnamurti was concerned with all humanity and stated repeatedly that he held no nationality or belief and belonged to no particular group or culture. In the latter part of his life, he travelled mainly between the schools he had founded in India, Britain and the United States, schools that educate for the total understanding of man and the art of living. He stressed that only this profound understanding can create a new generation that will live in peace.
In relation to the theme of this Retreat Krishnamurti said, “If robots and computers can do all that human beings can, what is to become of humanity as a social entity? How shall a human being, who is actually the rest of mankind, face this crisis, this turning point? Can you look at yourself not as a separate human being but as actually the rest of mankind? We have to examine the whole of thought because it is responsible for deeper as well as superficial layers of consciousness. Thought is limited, being a reaction of memory, so is its action limited and creating conflict?”
Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
Please e-mail the Secretary at email@example.com to make a booking or ask any questions.
Cost: $246 including all meals (vegetarian) and accommodation.
