Juice Fasts
For centuries, fasting has been used as a way to heal the body, mind and spirit, restoring balance and clarity. A Juice Fast at Āio Wīra offers you the space to step away from everyday life and take time for deep rest, renewal and reconnection.
You will be nourished with organic fruit and vegetable juices, along with a warming vegetable potassium broth in the evening.
Our experienced facilitators will guide you through the process, sharing the principles and benefits of fasting in a supportive and caring environment. Daily yoga and meditation sessions are complemented by a variety of guest-led workshops, such as Qi Gong and Reflexology. Massages and bodywork therapy are available as an optional extra.
In your free time, enjoy the peace of our tranquil sanctuary, there are bushwalks to enjoy, spa and sauna, or a refreshing swim in the river. Famous Te Henga (Bethells) beach is a ten minute drive away.

3 Day Wellness Retreats (Fri 9am to Sun 1pm)
These 2-night, 3-day retreats offer a chance to step out of your routine and reset in a simple, supported way. You’ll be nourished with organic fruit and vegetable juices, balanced smoothies, and a warm blended soup each evening.
Each day includes gentle yoga, meditation, and time to enjoy the spa and sauna, along with practical workshops to support your wellbeing. There’s plenty of space to slow down, whether that’s walking, reading, or simply resting.
Led by experienced facilitators, the retreat is designed to feel supportive and unhurried. Set in the quiet surroundings of Āio Wīra, it’s a chance to reconnect with your health and return home feeling clearer and more grounded.

Āio Wīra 3 Day Winter Wellness with Di
June 12th - 14th (Fri - Sun)
Di was the matriarch of Āio Wīra for many years. She lived at the cottage onsite and ran the centre for 31 years. Now living locally in a co-housing community, Di continues to run four retreats a year and is a popular choice with fasters. Qualified as a nurse and a naturapath, she has a loyal following who enjoy her lighthearted, practical and humorous approach. Many laughs and stories will be shared.

Winter Soul Soothe, Womens' Retreat with Wild Stillness Retreats
June 25-28 (Thu - Sun)
Over 4 days and 3 nights, we cultivate a deeply grounding, nurturing and vibrantly connected space. Every element of our retreat is carefully curated to create a spacious and flowing experience, guiding you towards a deeper connection with yourself, the world around you and other like-minded women.
Join us as we explore our connection to the breath and body through breathwork, yoga, dance, music and meditation. Through creative workshops we generate a curiosity for our feminine nature, embracing intuition, self-expression and our relationship to nature. Take home practices that will serve you long into the future, giving in to the opportunity to celebrate who you are. Nourish your body inside and out with our absolutely delicious organic vegetarian food, cooked with love by our incredible retreat chef Toni, from Ubuntu Kai .
Start each day with a flowing yoga class, followed by inspiring workshops, deep relaxation techniques and ample opportunity to wander the beautiful surroundings of our gorgeous retreat space. We limit this retreat to 14 women, creating a safe environment to slow-down, be yourself and feel truly comfortable together.
Beth and Vanessa are your welcoming retreat guides at Wild Stillness Retreats. Together they have decades of experience as teachers and facilitators, in yoga, meditation, workshops, music, ecology and creative expression. Transglobal Matariki Residency - hosted by Arts Connections Oceania (ACO)

This residency is both a music gathering and an educational space - a place to grow skills in intercultural music-sharing, facilitation, and inclusive practice.
Drawing on Ethno-inspired pedagogy, developed over the past 35 years, and ACO’s experience in intercultural arts-making, the residency combines:

Āio Wīra 5 Day Matarki Juice Fast with Barry
July 10th-14th (Fri-Tue)
Barry is warm and caring, with many years of experience fasting and facilitating at Āio Wīra. Fasters enjoy his relaxed and friendly approach. He has trained as a Naturopath and specialised in body therapies, having taught massage, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and Bowen technique for over 24 years.

Āio Wīra 3 Day Winter Wellness Retreat with Kiri
July 17th -19th (Fri-Sun)
Kiri is a qualified naturopath and medical herbalist, and also holds diplomas in therapeutic massage and body therapies. She has run her Kingsland, Auckland practice since 2004.
Within naturopathy, Kiri’s areas of focus include gut health, digestive concerns, and mental health, particularly anxiety and depression. Kiri focuses on wholefood diets and is generous in sharing both her knowledge and personal experience, including how meditation and fasting have supported her own wellbeing.

Āio Wīra 3 Day Winter Wellness Retreat with Shoshana
Aug 7th - 9th (Fri-Sun)
Shoshana is a degree-qualified naturopath and medical herbalist (Bachelor of Natural Medicine), massage therapist and Reiki practitioner, weaving embodied healing with contemplative practice. Her work is guided by a deep reverence for the Earth and a calling to support people in returning to wholeness—within themselves, their communities, and the wider web of life.
Her offerings are enriched by her long-standing personal practice in meditation, Yoga, and Qi Gong and by her engagement with Indigenous wisdom traditions. As part of her personal health journey, she has practiced regular 3- to 10-day fasts and cleanses for the past 12 years and is excited to be part of the nourishing community and healing space of Āio Wīra.
